If you're making the scarf you will need a total of 12 squares, so you will need 1 of each square. If you're making the afghan you will need a total of 48 squares, so you will need 4 of each square. But if some of the squares don't appeal to you, you can substitute that square for another that you do love. The choice is really up to you!

The tenth of our squares is called 'Trinity Spiral' written by Valley Weavers. You can find the pattern with a picture tutorial here on this page, or you can download a printer friendly version here.

If you have any questions regarding the pattern or the CAL in general, please post to the facebook group as you will receive the quickest response time from there. Thank you for joining us this week, look forward to seeing your progress in our facebook group and in seeing you again next week! Happy hooking!

Trinity Spiral
By: Valley Weavers

Materials:
            Crochet hook size “H”
            Red Heart Soft

Round 1  Make a magic ring, into the ring with the first color, sc, hdc, dc, trbl (kind of a cluster). Pull up a BIG loop on your hook and remove your hook. (Leave yarn attached)

With second color, work a standing sc, hdc, dc, trbl, into the ring. Pull up a BIG loop

and with third color, work a standing sc, hdc, dc, trbl into the ring. Pull ring tight.

Round 2  Now, you will be working in each “cluster” from the previous row.
With your last loop on your hook, work 2dc into the sc, hdc, dc, and trbl of this little “cluster” set of stitches. Pull up a BIG loop and remove the hook from this stitch. Insert the hook into the next loop (one that you dropped)

Work 2dc into the sc, hdc, dc, and trbl of this “cluster”.

Remove your hook, insert your hook into the third loop, and work 2dc in the sc, hdc, dc, and trbl stitch.

When you come back around to the first loop, remove your hook from the stitch you are on (pull up a BIG loop) and insert your hook into this loop.

Round 3  Work across these sections, dropping a loop and picking up the next loop as you come to them. In this round, you will work in this sequence: *2dc, dc in next 2sts*. Repeat from * until you come to the next loop. Drop the loop on your hook and pick up the next loop.

Round 4   Pick up the first color of the last round (this is the next loop on your work), work 2dc, dc in next 2sts for 18 sts. Now, dc in next 2sts, hdc in next 2sts, sc in next 2sts, slip st and end that color. Pick up the next loop/color and work 2dc, dc in next 2sts for 18 sts. Now, dc in next 2sts, hdc in next 2sts, sc in next 2sts, slip st and end that color. Pick up the next loop/color (final loop) and work 2dc, dc in next 2sts for 18 sts. Now, dc in next 2sts, hdc in next 2sts, sc in next 2sts, slip st and end that color. You should have 60 sts.

Round 5  Divide your 60 st. spiral into 4 equal sections and mark with a marker or yarn.

Don’t worry if you don’t have exactly 60 stitches. You can “fudge” a little!

These marked stitches will be your 4 corners. There should be 14stitches between each corner (14 times 4 for the 4 sides makes 56sts and plus the 4 corner stitches is 60sts)
Attach your new yarn in any marked corner with a standing dc. Dc, ch2, 2dc in the same stitch (first corner made).

*Dc in next 2sts, hdc in next 2sts, sc in next 6sts, hdc in next 2sts, dc in next 2sts, now work 2dc, ch2, 2dc in the next marked st.* (2nd corner made) Repeat from * until you nave 4 corners. After last corner, work dc in next 2sts, hdc in next 2 sts, sc in next 6sts, hdc in next 2sts, 2dc in last 2sts. Join with a slip st to the 1st dc of the first corner.

Round 6  Join a new color with a standing sc in any corner, sc, ch2, 2sc in this same stitch.

*Sc in each st around until corner. In corner ch2 space, work 2sc, ch2, 2sc*. (next corner made)Repeat from * three times, then sc in the remaining sts, join with a slip st to first sc of the beginning corner. Fasten off and weave in ends.

AS ALWAYS: we all don’t crochet with the same tension or the same yarn. Soooooo if your square is not 6 inches, feel free to work another row as in row 6 or use any other options you may have to make this square your own! ;-)
